Cancer Clinical Trials

Research is changing the way cancer is being treated. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, a clinical trial may offer access to the latest and most promising science, while helping to light the path for future survivors.

Learn more and talk to your doctor to see if a clinical trial may be the best choice for you.

Promoting clinical research will reduce health disparities, save lives, gain insights about the safety and effectiveness of drugs and other medical treatments, and discover treatments for cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses that plague Black communities.

There are many identifiable barriers that perpetuate the lack of Black participation in clinical/biomedical research (e.g., lack of understanding about the research process, financial insecurities, messaging issues, and mistrust). Our researchers, doctors, and community psychologists have used these barriers to create solutions in the form of a meaningful community outreach and engagement program that will include:

Donate
  • Culturally tailored pretrial planning

  • Patient education

  • Genuine commitment and concern by study staff

  • Hardworking individuals to overcome deficiencies

Our amazing staff, volunteers, and partners are developing a culturally tailored, community-based, family centered clinical research education program. This program focuses on educating and empowering community members so they can make informed decisions about their participation in clinical and biomedical research. This will lead to more accurate screening and diagnostic testing, as well as more efficient treatment of heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, diabetes, and more.
